活塞环是所有发动机零件中作三个方向运动的零件。(即轴向运动、径向运动和圆周方向的旋转运动),同时也是使用条件中更为苛刻的零件。发动机燃烧室在爆炸的瞬间,燃气温度可达到2000℃-2500℃,其爆发压力平均达到50kg/cm平方,活塞头部的温度一般不低于200℃。活塞是作往复运动的,其速度和负荷都很大。
