此种方法适用于采用软 化热水作为冷 却液，且软 化热水比较方便的单位。具体做法是：先向冷却系加注40～50°的温水（以防猛加沸水使水散热器芯管、汽缸盖发生胀裂），然后连续加热水（让水流出缸体），逐渐提高水温进行预热。当流出的水温度较高时再关闭放水开关即可。

该方法是利用随机柴油，通过燃油加热器附带的水泵将柴油机冷  却系统内的冷 却液抽出，经过加热器辐射加热后再循环至柴油机汽缸内，此时汽缸、活塞、活塞环以及其它摩擦副的温度随之升高。这种方式能将柴油机汽缸体温度加热到40～50°C左右。柴油机的机油得到加热后黏度降低，柴油机的润滑条件得到改善。
